ABOUT US

Aaron Froude

Lead Instructor

Aaron began his agility journey in 2010 with his first agility dog, Ace. Starting as complete newcomers to the sport—though both Aaron and Ace thought they had it all figured out—they were eager to learn, soaking up every bit of information available.

Their first agility trial was unforgettable. Living in Newfoundland, where only two trials were held each year, Aaron quickly realized he needed more to fuel his passion. After dedicated training, he traveled to his first out-of-province trial in Truro, NS, where Ace won Top Open Dog. That victory solidified Aaron’s commitment, and he was completely hooked.

From that point on, agility became his focus. He traveled across Canada, the U.S., and even England, learning from top instructors and gaining valuable experience. In 2014, motivated by greater training and competition opportunities, Aaron moved to New Brunswick, where agility soon became a central part of his life.

Throughout his career, Aaron has coached Team Canada for the WAO in 2018 and 2019 and competed with Crave in the 2023 FCI Agility World Championships in the Czech Republic. He has celebrated many meaningful victories, such as winning the Speedstakes Challenge gold medal with Flix at the 2025 Canadian Open, achieving medal placements at the Canadian Open Championships with Ace and Bo, and earning Top Dog with Ace at the 2019 UKI Atlantic Cup.

His judging career has been equally rewarding, marked by international accreditation through the Global Judging Program in 2020 and roles as judge at events like the US Open, the Korean Open, and the 2025 World Agility Open. Alongside competing and judging, Aaron has also coached agility students from around the world, sharing knowledge and helping others excel in this incredible sport.

Agility has taken Aaron across borders and introduced him to a world of dedicated people and inspiring dogs, and he is grateful for every step of this journey.

Joe Boudreau

Instructor

Joe discovered a passion for agility in the summer of 2018, after an inspiring trip to Newfoundland to watch a trial judged by Aaron. From that moment, agility became a core focus, sparking an all-consuming drive to excel and immerse in the sport.

The journey began under Aaron’s guidance, training at home with Jazz, an experienced agility dog and perfect partner for a new handler. Jazz’s need for precise handling quickly taught Joe the importance of clarity and attention to detail. Their teamwork culminated in a memorable qualification for the AAC Nationals the following summer, marking the first of many competitive milestones.

In May 2019, Joe welcomed a new teammate, Link—a first puppy and natural agility talent. Together, they pursued extensive ring experience, making the most of every opportunity amid pandemic restrictions. By age two, Link had already proven her potential, achieving standout placements, including NB\PEI Regionals Top Rookie 2021, Biathlon Winner at the 2021 UKI Atlantic Classic, and competing internationally at the 2021 US Open in Jacksonville, Florida.

Beyond handling, Joe developed a strong passion for course design and analysis, leading to a role as an in-person course analysis instructor. Teaching others to evaluate courses and make tactical choices tailored to their teams is both a rewarding challenge and an ongoing commitment to the agility community.

Joe has been responsible to create the material from the “Kick Your Ass” (KYA) Program at FlatOut Dogs. Each month we choose a relevant international judge to study, create statistics and identify on going themes. Over the last 2 years, Joe has studied over 500 courses from international judges, and designed courses based on their themes. This program is currently being used by numerous agility handlers across the world.

In Spring 2020, Joe became a UKI Judge and the UKI Canada Atlantic Representative. Their role as a mentor and judge allows Joe to share insights and design courses that inspire competitors to step outside their comfort zones, strengthening both teamwork and trust.

Our Dogs

ABBY

Abby, born April 2008, is our oldest girl and Queen of the house. Abby is a mix breed and the only one of our dogs that is actually a Newfoundlander!

Abby has never competed in agility, though was trained on the equipment and happy to run a course in our yard, as long as it means getting lots of pieces of cheese! She never did develop a love for the sport and would only complete what I asked, because I was asking, and not because she loved what she was doing.
Abby loves to explore our property and go on all our hikes with everyone else, though equally loves her chair at our dining room table and pillow on our bed, where she spends much of her days.

ACE

Ace, a border collie, born March 2009, was Aaron’s first ever agility dog. Ace immediately from day 1 of class 1, developed a love for the sport of agility.

Ace & I have medalled at numerous regional and National competitions throughout his life. Ace continues to surpass my expectations, while now at greater than 10 years old, runs as smooth as ever and continues to outrun dogs on course, more than half his age.

Ace is a gentle soul, loving everyone and everything!

JAZZ

Jazz, a border collie, born March 2010, was Aaron’s second agility dog. Jazz was always been the brains to the family. Smarter than the average border collie, she could be taught any new behaviour in a matter of minutes, however equally as quick, outsmart you and create new rules to whatever game we are playing.

Jazz always had some social anxiety and stressed often when entering the ring. Though, she was a loyal dog and gentle soul, and whenever asked and without hesitation, would step to the line in any environment and run any course.

Jazz left our family in September 2024. She will be remembered always, and will hold a special place in our hearts always.

THEORY

Theory, a border collie, born January 2013, was Aaron’s third agility dog. Theory puts his heart and soul into everything he does. From the hikes on our property, his swims in the river and of course the sport of agility. He is the type of dog who must be the one with the toy, the one ahead of the group, and also the one closest to you on the couch.

Theory is a joy to be around and a joy to run in agility. His passion for the sport pushes away any and all frustrations, that his lack of caring for how many bars or wings he might knock down on course, creates.

LINK

Link, born March 2019, is the second youngest in our family, but we expect always a puppy at heart!
Link is Joe’s first agility dog. She is a thoughtful, fast, and biddable girl. Always ready to play, she learned very quickly her joy for working and for the sport of agility. Because of the joy she has for the sport, she has been an ease to teach any skill and due to her thoughtfulness, learns any behaviour quickly and with her confidence, nothing shakes her.

Link, if given the choice, would never leave Theory’s side, they are truly best friends. If at any point Link is not nearby, call to Theory, and she is just inches behind.

CRAVE

Crave, born December 2019, is the youngest in our family and Aaron's next agility partner. Crave entered our family at 8 weeks old, and we quickly learned that she would be a great family pet and an amazing agility dog.
Crave learned the joy of playing with Aaron very quickly, showing amazing focus and brains, and a natural skill for sport of agility. She is thoughtful, fun, and a personality like no other.
Crave is connected at the hip to her full sister, and best friend, Link. If you wonder where Crave is, simply call for Link, and Crave will be immediately behind.

Crave dived into FlatOut Dogs with all 4 paws, and now is the focus of two online courses - Core Puppy Foundations & SKills to Perfection. She has shown a love for the camera, but mostly importantly, a love for showing off her skills.
